THE BEGGINERS

THEORY

We don't mean to be as a school online. In effect, I will bring about my own view, as an African. Don't expect me to make a whole theory about painting. There are books which can best satisfy your thirst of knowing the various schools of thoughts in the world of painting in general and in abstract art in particular. It is very important for an artist to know where he/she stands; it gives more self confidence.

TAME INSPIRATION

Inspiration is the essential condition that makes a painter or an artist in general who he/she is. In effect, it is what makes the particularity or the difference and attracts people to a particular artist, rather than to another one.

At this stage, creativity is at work. The artist must know how to focus his/ her attention to the aspect which he wants to expose. Each artist has his method, but the artist has to bear in mind that to paint is like to embark on a journey to the unknown; in other words, he may not always be aware that there is still a long way but he will know when it ends. On the other hand, he should not force himself to that journey when he is not ready. To put it in a simple way, there are days that an artist can really be inspired and there are other ones that the inspiration is completely absent. If the latter is the case, instead of stressing up, the artist must relax and see other things, such as reading books and should not hesitate in creating new styles. When you are new in a field obviously, you will refer to those people who are more experienced; this is true of painting as well as for other areas in life.

Discipline, love and passion allow inspiration to flow. In effect, your love for painting will urge you to be in the mood of doing something in that light. Being a beginner implies that you need something to buster your inspiration. Concretely, you can take a plate, put different fruits with varied shapes as possible in it and start drawing at different angles. This is because what you see in front of you differs from what you will see from its sides.

Another thing you can do as a beginner is to use only colours of your choice. Also, it is always advisable for a painter at this stage to paint the things that you like, those that make you happy. Indeed, when you use colours and the shapes that you love you as a “new comer” in the field and not as a professional, can easily detect your mistakes and it is always good to grow in your rhythm.
