INTERMIDIARIES

This part of our lesson concerns mainly those who are already in the field but who are not experienced and those who had started painting then stopped painting for a reason or another. Whether you are a beginner, an intermediary or somebody advanced in the artistic world, it is never outrageous to have some guidelines when or before working. In effect, an artist is somebody who learns every day. In this light an artist has a responsibility in regard to the community in which he/she evolves, thus, he can be seen as a missionary. This mission entails him to picture the behavioural aspect of his society as well as those things that look remote though they surround him/her and which calls for the attention of somebody who is sensible. This observation will lead the artist to be looked upon as a futurist. Over ages, we have had writers, musicians and even painters who did things that made no sense to their contemporary mates; but which today are praised because of their audacity. They took the risk to do the things that were not appreciated at their time. We owe the abstract paintings to those painters who decided not to follow the rules that existed at their epoch and tried a new way of painting, in a liberal and inventive way.

Yielding your inspiration

The first immediate thing that can help you in your search for inspiration is the use of your past work experiences. In effect, the review of your works can help you in this light; you have to critically look at each of them. You may discover an aspect that has to be emphasized on. Thus, this can help to create a variance of what you did earlier.

They have a greater part to play; in this light the painter has to observe the play of the brush on the medium he or she used. This certainly will or may show the limits on the reasoning at that time and thereby bring about a new way of working that piece of work to the satisfaction of the artist in one hand and that of art lovers on the other part. Also, the working on the contrast and forms can have an effect on the perception of your work. Some artists will prefer a simple work while others will like to create something more sophisticated with so many ways of interpreting the scenes that is put into our disposition.

A visit to galleries and museums has also a playing part in this whole game of creation. Creativity doesn't come overnight; as such, you are mostly influenced by what you see and it is your personal touch that brings about your originality.

Choose your painting style. In effect as being in between an advanced painter and a beginner, you should be able to assess your limits. In other words you know whether you are better in pure abstract or in the junction of both; if you are more productive in the abstract world or in that of figurative, and vice-versa.

To close this part of our talks we can say that an artist needs to hear what his immediate critics say about his or her work. The fact that they are not artist doesn't mean that they are not of good advices. In the contrary they can inspire you in getting another vision of
